Office of Ombudsman
The Office of Ombudsman was created by the Board of Supervisors in 1993, based on key recommendations from the Kolts Commission which examined various policies, practices and procedures of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The Ombudsman staff assists individuals who have complaints involving Sheriff’s Department personnel, and are dissatisfied with the results of their investigation. The Ombudsman’s goal is to ensure that a thorough and complete investigation is conducted.
Today, the Ombudsman staff helps the public with a wide variety of issues beyond those envisioned in the ordinance.
